๐ŸŽจ Today’s design task

Another day, another challenge! Today’s task pushed me out of my comfort zone, focusing on cat body language.

๐Ÿš€ My design process

  1. Researched cat body language (despite having a cat, I realised there was a lot to learn!)

  2. Sketched initial ideas on paper

  3. Selected ethical colour palette

  4. Chose font pairing: Poiret One & Montserrat

  5. Found and incorporated cat images (planned to draw them if time allowed)

  6. Added icons using the Iconify plugin in Figma

  7. Experimented with table layout (which was a bad idea eventually)

  8. Added colour to lines for visual interest

  9. Stuck with the design despite doubts (to manage time)

  10. Added colour accents beneath each cat image

  11. Incorporated researched cat body language text

๐Ÿง  Challenges and solutions

  • Changing design midway in Figma was problematic
  • Struggled with colour usage in table layout
  • Mentor, Thomas Senseiโ€™s feedback highlighted areas for improvement:
    • Differentiate icon text and descriptions
    • Maintain consistency with initial design concept
    • Reduce information overload (e.g., add “Read More” option)

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ The final design

While I’m not fully satisfied with today’s result, it was a valuable learning experience.

๐Ÿ’ก What I learned today

  • Major design changes should start on paper, not in Figma
  • Information overload can clutter the design; consider using “Read More” or initially hidden options

โฐ If I had more time

  • I’d revert to my initial sketch, focusing on one aspect (e.g., cat tails)
  • Implement a hover effect to reveal detailed information. Hereโ€™s a new sketch I did after the challenge.:

๐Ÿ’Œ Any thoughts?

What projects are you working on? I’d love to hear your thoughts on my design or any advice!

Thanks for following Day 6 of my challenge. See you tomorrow for Day 7!

With love and light ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

P.S. Our cat Teto has been struggling with stomach issues lately. As someone who dealt with similar problems in childhood, I empathise deeply. We’re committed to finding the right food and showering him with love and support. I wish you and all our furry friends the best health and the most happiness! ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’•
